Ежегодный отчет Организации Объединенных Наций, с 1990 года публикуемый в рамках ПРООН, Программы развития ООН. По-видимому, общепринятый перевод названия на русский язык неудачен – лучше было бы: «Доклад о человеческом развитии», но он таков (правда, используется еще термин Доклад о гуманитарном развитии, что, видимо, тоже переведено не точно). Российская Федерация сотрудничает с Программой развития ООН с 1993 года. В настоящее время ПРООН осуществляет в разных регионах страны около 60 проектов, направленных на решение различных социально-экономических и экологических проблем. В рамках подготовки Отчетов разработаны важные индексы, получающие все большее распространение. Это прежде всего, Индекс развития человеческого потенциала (Human Development Index) – см. Уровень жизни. Кроме того: Гендерный индекс развития (Gender-related Development Index), Мера гендерного расширения ( Gender Empowerment Measure), которая определяет неравенство между возможностями мужчин и женщин в той или иной стране, а также Индекс человеческой бедности( Human Poverty Index), см. Бедность.
